You are Worth Saving & The Boat That Wouldn’t Sink
The Boat That Wouldn’t Sink
Stacee Goetzinger, by most accounts, shouldn’t be here. For much of her adult life, she wasn’t planning to be. A screaming mind and near constant mental pain will do that - wash away plans for the future and try to drown any joy, love, and meaning to life.
More than a metaphor, The Boat that Wouldn’t Sink is a story of a life shaped by trauma, plagued by mental illness, but rescued by hope.
For years, Stacee tried to escape the family trauma which so deeply impacted her adolescence and created the foundation for such intense mental illness throughout her adult life. Through this journey and struggle, though, she discovered that neither the waters of the past nor the present could be outrun or escaped, but only through the love, mercy and courage of Jesus could they be faced and healed.
As Stacee writes from the middle of her own story, you will likely find pieces of your own – pain, trauma, failure and despair, but may you also inspired and experience the camaraderie of a trusted friend pointing the way to your own discovery of recovery, purpose and hope.
You Are Worth Saving
Do you have a struggle that hurts you and your journey in this life? Fighting this...can feel hopeless and paralyzing if you are choosing to face it on your own. But, I have good news for you!
No matter what your struggle may be, and regardless of the nature of your battle, there is shameless hope to be found in the only one who truly knows how hard you strive to get a handle on what is relentless in trying to drown you. His name is Jesus, and he is into restoring you and me. He is the healer of our hurts and the lifter of our heads. I struggle with the mental illness of depression and the sickness of anorexia nervosa. I have been through the darkness of self-harm and at the door of having to choose the complications of life rather than leaving a legacy of suicide. I get so tired, but with the support of the encouragers in my life, who have been chosen by God, I see hope and someday...someday, victory.
The contents of this audiobook are letters from my heart to yours. We don't have to be undergoing the same struggles, my friend, to travel down this road of life together. Fighting can be so very lonely. We were created to live and heal in community without harsh judgment of one another. We acknowledge that we need Jesus's help and hope, and with those gifts we can get through our trials one step at a time, one day at a time.
Enclosed are 30 raw and honest writings that express where I am in my journey. My heart's desire and prayer are that you will find camaraderie and hope. Let's get better together!
A letter from the author.
Do you have a struggle that hurts you on your journey in this life? Fighting can feel hopeless and paralyzing if you are choosing to face it on your own. But I have good news for you! No matter what your struggle may be and regardless of the nature of your battle, there is shameless hope to be found in the only One who truly know how hard you strive to get a handle on what is relentless in trying to drown you. His name is Jesus, and He is into restoring you and me. He is the healer of our hurts and the lifter of our heads.
I struggle with the mental illness of depression, anxiety, and borderline personality disorder and have battled with anorexia for most of my adult life. I have been through the darkness of self-harm and at the door of having to choose the complications of life rather than leaving a legacy of suicide.
I get so tired, but with the support of encouragers in my life who have been chosen by God, I see hope and on some days victory. The contents of my book, You Are Worth Saving, are letters from my heart to yours. Then in my memoir, The Boat that Wouldn’t Sink, I share that we don’t have to be undergoing the same struggles from the same trauma, my friend, in order to travel down this road of life together.
Fighting these battles can be so very lonely, can’t it? We were created to live and heal in community without harsh judgment of one another. As we we acknowledge we need Jesus’ help and hope, we can get through our trials one step at a time, one day at a time.
The words in these pages are both raw and honest writings that express where I am on my journey. My heart’s prayer and desire is that you will find camaraderie and hope. Let’s get better together!
Love to you
